ICDL for people with disabilities in Jordan

The ICDL programme in Jordan was launched in 2001. The Licensee put great effort into promoting the programme’s benefits for individual Candidates as well as for society. Raising awareness of the programme in the Jordanian public raised awareness levels among blind people who view ICDL as a tool to help them become more familiar with ICT and the development of the technology

In addition, to spread the information about ICDL among corporate and governmental entities, ICDL Jordan places special attention and care on people with disabilities and other people in need. The Licensee facilitates the endorsement of ICDL by Institutes that provide services for blind people with the aim of developing their social and mental skills, helping them to affiliate within the society and thus become more independent.

To summarise, the following are the main factors that contributed to the enrolment of blind Candidates on ICDL in Jordan:

  • ICDL is accessible to people with disabilities
  • ICDL was recognised and endorsed by various institutions and schools, specialised in teaching and assisting blind people
  • Blind Candidates’ determination to overcome the ‘’difference’’ between them and sighted people and their awareness that ICDL can help them achieve that.
